As we step into a fresh season on the farm—and in life—we’re feeling the quiet excitement of starting again. Episode 94 of The Flower Files dives into what it really looks like to evolve a flower business with intention, creativity, and a whole lot of honesty.
We’re not making dramatic resolutions or launching flashy changes. Instead, we’re embracing subtle, strategic shifts that will lay the foundation for stronger growth down the road.
Reflecting, Not Rewriting
At Wildly Native Flower Farm, we’ve learned to ditch the pressure of New Year’s resolutions. Instead, we focus on reflection: What worked? What didn’t? What lit us up—and what completely drained us?
Take weddings. We’re proud of how we streamlined and communicated better this past year. But in the fields? We started the year behind (thanks, broken tractor) and never quite caught up. It taught us that small delays can snowball, and so can intentional shifts.
Choosing Change with Purpose
This year, we’re planting from a place of purpose—not obligation. That means saying no to some beautiful but inefficient blooms (sorry, Godetia) and yes to those that thrive here, like Campanula… as long as the deer don’t get to them first.
We’re rethinking how we grow staples like sunflowers and dahlias too, opting for better systems, better timing, and better energy management. This isn’t just about yields—it’s about creating space for creativity.
Boundaries Bloom Too
One of the biggest shifts we’re making? Saying no more often. We’re learning that protecting our energy, time, and team is essential if we want to keep growing the way we want to.
From limiting overwhelming wedding bookings to refining our flower varieties, this is the year of doing less—but better. It’s about finding our rhythm instead of chasing someone else’s.
Creativity as a Core Value
More intention = more creativity. We want to make space for arrangements that feel personal and expressive. No cookie-cutter vases. No smiley mugs with sprayed carnations. (You know the ones.)
We thrive on connecting flowers to people in meaningful, memorable ways. That’s the Wildly Native way.
A Note to You: Start Small, Start Anyway
If you’re standing at the edge of your own new beginning—big or small—know this:
🌱 You don’t need permission.
🌱 You don’t need a perfect plan.
🌱 You just need to take the next right step.
Whether you’re planting literal seeds or metaphorical ones, growth will come. Trust the season you’re in. Let subtle shifts pave the way to powerful change.
We’re right there with you!
