As we wrap up this year, we wanted to do something a little different here on the The Flower Files.
Instead of rushing into the next season or sharing a polished highlight reel, we chose to slow down. To pause. To reflect. This episodeââOur Year in Bloom â Spotify Does It, Why Shouldnât We?ââis our chance to look back on what this year truly meant for us at Wildly Native Flower Farm and for the community that continues to grow around flowers, education, and honest conversation.
This year was full. Beautifully fullâbut not always easy.
We spent long days harvesting in the field, working through unpredictable weather, and adjusting timelines more times than we can count. We created wedding installations that stretched our creativity, tested our problem-solving skills, and reminded us how physical this work can be. Like most seasons in flower farming and small business, there were moments that required flexibility, patience, and a deep breath.
But there were also moments that grounded us completely.
Watching flowers grow from seed and become part of someoneâs wedding day never gets old. Seeing our team step into their strengthsâsometimes before they even realized they had themâwas one of the most meaningful parts of the year. And standing back during installs, dirty, tired, and surrounded by flowers, realizing this is something we builtâthose are the moments that stay with us.
Wildly Native has never been just about flowers. Itâs about place. Itâs about seasonality. Itâs about choosing intention, even when that path is harder or slower. This year reinforced that growth doesnât always look loud or fast. Sometimes it looks like simplifying, saying no, and choosing sustainability over speed.
Why a Flower Farming Podcast Like The Flower Files Matters
When we started The Flower Files, our goal wasnât perfectionâit was honesty.
We wanted to create a flower farming podcast that talked about the real parts of this industry: floral design, running a floral business, pricing, boundaries, burnout, grief, joy, and growth. The things that donât always show up on social media but shape our day-to-day lives in very real ways.
Over the past year, this podcast became a space for those conversations.
We talked about behind-the-scenes decisions on the flower farm. We talked about the emotional weight of weddings and funerals. We talked about the realities of floral entrepreneurship and the pressure to do everything all at once.
What surprised us most wasnât just how many people listenedâit was how many reached out to say, âI thought I was the only one who felt this way.â Thatâs why this flower farming podcast matters to us. It reminds us that none of us are alone in this work.
Lessons From a Year of Seasonal Flower Farming
This year taught us lessons weâre intentionally carrying forward:
1. Growth Isnât Always Loud
Sometimes growth looks like saying no, simplifying systems, and choosing sustainability over speedâespecially when running a floral business.
2. You Donât Have to Do Everything
Consistency matters more than doing it all. Showing up and doing the right thingsâover and overâadds up.
3. Flowers Teach Timing
Seasonal flower farming reminds us that nothing can be rushed. Flowers, businesses, ideas, and people all need the right conditionsâand sometimes restâbefore they bloom.
Gratitude for Our Flower Farming Community
We want to pause and say thank you.
To our Wildly Native team: thank you for showing up with grit, humor, heart, and dedication every single day. This work doesnât happen without you.
To our clients: thank you for trusting us with some of the most meaningful moments of your lives. That trust is never taken lightly. When we do well, we celebrate. When we miss the mark, we carry those lessons forward and work hard to do better.
And to youâour listeners, readers, and communityâthank you for supporting this flower farming podcast. Whether you recognize us by voice at the farmers market, share episodes, leave reviews, or send messages, this space exists because of you.
Looking Ahead: Growing Flowers and Conversations With Intention
As we head into a new year, our focus is clarityânot rush.
Thereâs more education coming. More honest conversations. More tools to help you grow flowers, grow businesses, and grow confidence. The Flower Files will continue to be a space for curiosity, learning, and real dialogueâbecause the floral industry deserves that.
Whether youâre a flower farmer, florist, home gardener, or simply someone who loves flowers, we believe honest conversations matter more than curated perfection.
Growth doesnât happen all at once.
It happens petal by petal.
Season by season.
Step by step.
